Y’all I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to share with you my latest cocktail creation! Another moonshine recipe!! More specifically a Caramel Apple Moonshine. And no I don’t mean of the illegal variety! I used Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon as my base. 🙂 He’s been my go-to moonshine. It’s a super smooth moonshine. No he didn’t pay me to say that or use his brand. I originally bought it because of the label (see graphics play such a key role in marketing of products!). 😉 I wouldn’t be opposed to some product samples though to work on a few more moonshine recipe ideas that I have in my head.
In case you missed my first ever moonshine recipe creation, I’ve got an amazing Spiced Cranberry Moonshine too! Okay…so back to this recipe story. I love all things caramel. And I know we aren’t exactly in the season of fall right now (it’s late March), but this just reminds me so much of fall. This recipe can be enjoyed cold or warmed up (think a fun version of a hot toddy) and well…it’s just super delish! So on to the recipe!
2 qts apple juice (I went organic)
2 qts apple cider (hands down, you’ve got to try Musselman’s)
4 cinnamon sticks
8 whole cloves
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
10 caramel candies (unwrapped)
500 ml Junior Johnson Moonshine
250 ml Caramel Vodka
Combine the apple juice, apple cider, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, light brown sugar, white sugar and caramel candies in a large pot. Bring up to a gentle boil, then reduce to simmer and cover. Simmer for at least 1 hour, longer is okay. Remove from the heat and let it cool to room temperature. Strain out the cinnamon sticks and cloves. Add in the moonshine and caramel vodka, stir to combine. Bottle it up in some mason jars and either chill in the refrigerator or store in a cool place.
Enjoy!!! **Please drink responsibly!**
